We have celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Oviedo Convention at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine which was held on the 4th of December 2017 in Ankara, Turkey.Since it has been 20 years of the Convention, we organized a panel to talk about the gains and potentials of the Oviedo Convention in Turkey as the Hacettepe University Center for Bioethics in collaboration with the Turkey Unit of UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa).The objective of this conference was to bring healthcare professionals, lecturers of both faculty of medicine and law, students,clinicians, researchers and public together in order to discuss the reflections of this legal instrument in terms of the developments in Turkey with public which was signed and rafitied by Turkey in 2004.
